Santana Gakuen Art Project
The collective will be led by Kim In-sook, a member of Knots for the Arts, and will begin in 2022.
This is a project with Brazilian children living in Japan who attend Santana Gakuen in Aisho Town, Shiga Prefecture, with whom we have had a relationship.

About Santana Gakuen
Founded in 1998, Santana Gakuen (Aisho Town, Shiga Prefecture) caters to children aged 0 to 18 whose parents came to Japan from Brazil to work. The school still does not receive public support and is constantly facing challenges in terms of operating funds. At the same time, interaction with the local community is limited, and the children live in a small community of Brazilians.
Project History
With the support of the Agency for Cultural Affairs from 2022 to 2023, the Mutual Care Museum Project Executive Committee, comprised of several organizations in Shiga Prefecture, invited Kim In-sook, a member of Knots for the Arts, to serve as director and develop an art project to expand connections between the local community and Santana Gakuen through art.
Members Nishida and Sugita also participated in this gold project and have continued to interact with Santana Gakuen.

Santana Gakuen Tokyo Art Tour
In March 2023, our organization supported a visit by children from Santana School to the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, where the work Eye to Eye, which features them as subjects, was on display. We implemented several programs to coincide with this visit and their stay in Tokyo, treating the museum visit itself as an art project for the children, and we documented the process.

Santana Gakuen Art Festival
Knots for the Arts plans to host the Santana School Arts Festival in 2025.
Details about the event will be updated in due course.
